Brazilian esports organisations Los Grandes and Team oNe have merged following a purchase agreement.
Los Grandes has purchased Team oNe for an undisclosed amount. Despite financial details not being revealed, Los Grandes stated to Esports Insider that the purchase now values the organisation at R$100m (~£16.84m).
As a result, all Team oNe assets will belong to Los Grandes. Alexandre ‘Kakavel’ Peres, CEO of Team oNe, now joins Los Grandes’ board alongside the organisation’s owners Rodrigo ‘El Gato’ Fernandes and Rodrigo Terron. Esports Insider spoke to Peres and Terron, who provided more details on the negotiation.
“Outfield — as a Team oNe investor and consultant to Los Grandes — saw the business synergy between the two companies and acted as a facilitator for the evolution of this partnership,” said Peres.
Outfield is an investment and consultancy group led by Pedro Oliveira. It develops businesses mainly in the entertainment, sports and esports industries.
Terron added: “Outfield remains a shareholder and consultant of the new company. This new company will encompass all the operations of Team oNe and Los Grandes, where Los Grandes will be the majority associate. In addition, they will continue to support us on strategic issues, being able to participate in future funding and acting as investors, with the aim of increasing their participation.”
Not only does the purchase bolster Los Grandes’ operations, the merger sees the organisation once again compete for a spot at the IEM Rio Major 2022. Los Grandes had failed to qualify in South America, however, Team oNe was granted a spot in North America for the CS:GO RMR tournament. Initially, the team to play at RMR will be called ‘Los + oNe’.
Training facilities and assets owned by Team oNe in the US will also be managed by the new parent organisation.
Los Grandes will keep its CS:GO roster in Brazil even with the North America-based team pursuing a spot in Rio Major. Other esports divisions, for now, will remain named as Los Grandes or Team oNe. However, more elaborated branding decisions are to be taken in a near future.
“In this first moment, the two organisations continue to coexist and work together, while discussing the best way forward. Before making any decision, we will take into account the opinion of the community and an in-depth market study,” said Terron.
All together, Los Grandes and Team oNe field rosters in Free Fire, Rainbow Six Siege, Wild Rift, CS:GO, VALORANT and League of Legends.
Team oNe is the third of five acquisitions forecast by Los Grandes in 2022. The first was the gaming tech company GEMU, followed by Simplicity Esports’ operations in Brazil. After merging Team oNe, Los Grandes expects to have a worldwide presence in three years, reaching $8.65m (~£7,81m) in revenue by the end of 2022.
