ESL is the official partner of the upcoming League of Legends tournament, the European Masters. ESL is the official presenting partner of the competition and will host splits across Europe. The first Spring Split is set to kick off in April, hosted in the United Kingdom.
26 teams will face off against each other for their share of the €150,000 (£130,867.50) prize pool. The concept behind the European Masters is to promote and develop grassroots esports in Europe, giving semi-professional players a platform to make a new for themselves. Teams book their spot in the tournament through European Regional Leagues, mostly being ESL National Championships.

From our time running the ESL Premiership for League of Legends, we know how incredible the level of play in these competitions can be! The Spring split is a great opportunity for fans to see some of the most impressive rising stars in the European League of Legends scene. Our aim is to offer an even better competition experience for fans, and even more opportunities for talented European players to raise their game in esports.”
The Haymarket Theatre has been chosen as the venue of choice for the Grand Finals, not long after the £3,600,000 refurbishment. Peter Soulsby, Mayor of Leicester – who commissioned the refurbishment – also commented: “Leicester has long been associated with creativity and innovation, so I’m delighted that the city is establishing itself as a hub for the rapidly-growing esports industry. I hope that the fans who will be flocking to the refurbished Haymarket Theatre for the Grand Finals will enjoy the competition – as well as the venue – and we look forward to welcoming them to our city later this month.”
