The NBA 2K League and HyperX have today announced a new partnership that will make the company the Official Gaming Headset of the NBA 2K League.

The inaugural season of the league will debut tomorrow on May 1st and sees 17 of the NBA’s 30 clubs involved. In total, it will feature 102 of some of the best NBA 2K players in the world. It’ll run for 17 weeks from May to August. Teams will compete for $1 million (£727,000) prize money across the three tournaments and playoffs.

Brendan Donohue, NBA 2K League Managing Director stated: “We want NBA 2K League players to have best-in-class equipment, and when it comes to headsets, HyperX is second to none.

“Communicating with teammates during play is vital for success and partnering with HyperX will allow our players to compete at their best.”

With this partnership, HyperX gaming headsets will be used during all live gameplay. This includes weekly matchups, three in-season tournaments, playoffs and the NBA 2K League Finals. It accounts for both players and casters too.

HyperX will also enjoy ‘prominent branding throughout the NBA 2K League Studio’, and we can expect plenty of giveaways and competitions on socials.

“The convergence of esports and sports, as seen with the launch of the new NBA 2K League, is creating an exciting new form of entertainment,” said Mark Leathem, General Manager, HyperX. “Hearing every detail and communicating effectively during NBA 2K League competitions is critically important to these players. HyperX leads the way with its iconic gaming look, comfort, and great sounding gaming headsets.”

This partnership isn’t a massive surprise; HyperX has similar partnerships already in place with a number of the NBA 2K League teams including Mavs Gaming, Pacers Gaming, Grizz Gaming, Bucks Gaming and Jazz Gaming.

Esports Insider says: We can’t say we’re surprise. HyperX has already signed headset sponsorships with a number of 2K teams, and the league was bound to agree its own such arrangement prior to the season getting underway. HyperX are going big on the NBA 2K which is a big call for a brand new league and testament to the power of the NBA and the way they’ve played their esports involvement so far.

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
