Game publisher Riot Games has announced that the first-ever Teamfight Tactics (TFT) LAN tournament will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada in December.
The event will occur at MGM Grand’s 850,000 sqft conference centre and features an open bracket format. In total, 512 spots are available for aspiring competitors from all backgrounds around the world. Details for how to obtain a competitor pass will be shared at a later date but there will be some priority given based on Set 9 ladder rankings.
The competition will be played on the upcoming Set 10, which has been previously touted by Riot Games as being one of the most innovative sets to feature in the game. Unlike traditional Set Championships, this event will focus on players’ ability to quickly adapt to the new set rather than their mastery at the end of one.
Michael Sherman, Global Head of Teamfight Tactics, commented on the news: “We want the future of TFT esports to embody approachability and diversity of skill. To achieve this, we are expanding our esports events and opening more of them to anyone who wants to compete.
“Recognising the incredible potential of competitive TFT, we are thrilled to announce our first-ever global LAN event, which will take place this December in Las Vegas.”
TFT’s Monsters Attack! tournament only recently culminated in a global event on May 26th – 28th. Shortly after, the competition officially welcomed Southeast Asia (SEA) as a new region in the global esports ecosystem. With the addition of SEA, Riot Games also updated the number of Regional Seeds that will qualify for the Global Championship.
Moreover, earlier this year, Riot Games announced changes to EMEA circuit for Monsters Attack!, not only increasing the total prize pool but also introducing new Golden Spatula Cup qualification opportunities.
