The Global Esports Federation (GEF) and MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, have secured a content-focused partnership.

As a result, the two parties will collaborate to create content surrounding the Global Esports Games, esports players and the wider industry.

According to a release, the deal will see the Global Esports Federation and MGM Alternative create ‘linear and streaming content’ in addition to ‘live events within the GEF’s esports conventions and events.’ Moreover, the deal marks MGM Alternative’s first foray into the esports industry.

Known for producing a range of television projects including Shark Tank, The Voice and Gladiators, MGM Alternative content produced alongside the GEF will look to appeal to gamers and the wider audience in the build-up to the 2024 edition of the Global Esports Games in China.

The 2023 Global Esports Games took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in December 2023 where over 950 esports athletes represented more than 100 nations across multiple titles. Following the 2024 event, the Global Esports Games will take place in the United Arab Emirates in 2025, the USA in 2026 and Qatar in 2027.

Partnering with MGM Alternative is the first deal following the GEF forming a new executive team in January. The Federation says the creation of the team is one of several key updates to its organisational structure.

Paul J Foster, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Esports Federation, spoke on the deal: “We are thrilled to unite with MGM Alternative to unlock the incredible potential of esports.

“This collaboration will amplify the voices of diverse esports athletes, showcasing their compelling stories to the world. Together, Global Esports and MGM Alternative will provide an innovative platform that will power growth and value for the world’s esports community.”
