Game studio Midnight Society has terminated its relationship with Co-Founder and YouTube streamer Herschel ‘Guy’ Beahm IV, also known as Dr Disrespect.

The removal of Dr Disrespect, which occurred on Monday, followed reports last week that allege the streamer sent inappropriate messages to a minor in 2020.

The allegation in question also came from a former Twitch employee, Cody Conners, regarding why Beahm was banned from Twitch four years ago, a topic which has attracted much speculation since it happened. Conners took to X to claim “He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon.”

According to Midnight Society, the game studio was informed of the allegations against Dr Disrespect and whilst the company originally “assumed his innocence” Midnight Society spoke to all parties involved and came to the conclusion that the best course of action was to terminate its relationship with him.

Founded in 2021, Midnight Society is an independent game studio that is currently developing DEADROP, a shooter title that is heavily tied to the streamer.

Since Midnight Society’s statement, Dr Disrespect went to social media on Tuesday to issue his own official statement. In the post, the streamer admitted that the reason for his Twitch ban in 2020 was due to Twitch whisper messages between him and a minor.

In that statement he said: “Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more.”

Dr Disrespect did also have a slightly different interpretation regarding how things ended between himself and Midnight Society. The streamer’s statement indicated that the two parties “made the painful decision collectively” to have Beahm step down.

The steamer’s first statement on the accusations was a reply to gaming personality Jake Lucky who had commented on the allegation. “Jake seriously… I get it, its a hot topic but this has been settled, no wrongdoing was acknowledged and they paid out the whole contract.”

This caused a lot of community backlash and resulted in a second statement which referred to a lawsuit between Beahm and Twitch that ended in a settlement.

The streamer and Midnight Society have officially parted ways, and Beahm has stated that he will be taking an “extended vacation” with his family and will be returning to streaming afterwards.
