The Portuguese Electronic Sports Federation (FEPODELE) has announced the addition of four esports organisations to further develop the Portuguese esports ecosystem.

Portuguese organisations SAW, Betclic Apogee, Rhyno Esports and Impulse GW join existing members For the Win Esports, Panthers Esports, Agency Clan and 22 Esports.

According to a release by the FEPODELE, the federative project aims to work with other Portuguese sports federations, universities and schools, alongside brands engaged in esports and other relevant parties to grow Portuguese esports. The organisation also emphasised developing community initiatives and grassroots esports in the country.

Following the additions, the project’s corporate structure has been altered. The FEPODELE will be headed by Pedro Mota (22Esports) as President with Joaquim Regadas (SAW) and Gonçalo Brandeiro (Betclic Apogee) named Vice-Presidents.

The General Assembly Board will consist of Rui Jesus as board President, Marcos Oliveira (Agency Clan) as board Vice-President and André Perdiz (Impulse GW) as the board’s Secretary. Meanwhile, the Supervisory Board will feature Simão Jorge (Rhyno) as Chairman, with Mário Ricardo Aires Lisboa (Gil Vicente) and Jorge Vieira (Luna Galaxy) named Vice-Chairman and Member, respectively.

In a statement by SAW, the organisation said that it “wanted to take a step forward and support all people, players, clubs and organisations, in order to create, together with the FEPODELE federated clubs, conditions, guarantees and new opportunities for the national scene.”

Pedro ‘Gnomo’ Mota, President of FEPODELE, told Esports Insider: “We are excited to announce the addition of several new clubs with significant stakes in the Portuguese scene. Our main goal is to capture the essence of the Portuguese esports community and support our clubs and players, who are the primary stakeholders in the esports ecosystem.”

The recent announcement by FEPODELE comes at an interesting time for Portuguese esports. Earlier this week a parliamentary conference, supported by the Portuguese Socialist Party, took place to discuss legal recognition and regulation of esports in the country.

Moreover, Esports Insider will host its flagship esports, gaming and creator economy business conference in the Portuguese capital from September 23rd- 25th. Tickets for ESI Lisbon, which will also include the first edition of Esports Leaders, ESI Hall of Fame 2024, start-ups competition The Clutch and the ESI Film Festival, are available now.
