Gaming hardware brand Alienware, part of the Dell group of companies, has announced a new gaming headset called the Alienware Pro Headset.
The headset, co-developed with esports organisation Team Liquid and other esports pros, will be aimed at competitive gamers. It also offers features that allow it to be worn in free time.
The Pro lineup is the latest addition to Alienware’s product offerings. After launching a Pro mouse and keyboard earlier in 2024, Alienware has now rounded up the lineup with a dedicated esports headset, which will be available this October, initially in North America.
The headset has a set of features consumers have come to expect from a high-end audio solution for competitive play, including hybrid ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), a two-microphone ANC for the user’s microphone, memory foam earcups and large 50mm drivers.
These features make the headset a direct competitor to Razer’s Blackshark and Logitech’s G PRO headset. Unlike the competitors, however, Alienware offers ANC in its headset.
According to a release, Alienware created the headset after a year and a half of research, focus groups and interviews with professional players and streamers, including Team Liquid, a long-term partner of Alienware.
The company has decided not to focus too much on spatial audio and surround sound emulation, but rather on recreating the game’s input as well as possible. The headset does, however, support Dolby Atmos. Alienware claims its graphene-coated drivers are superior in performance to other materials such as titanium or plastic.
The headset’s battery life is around 35 hours over a 2.4GHz connection with ANC on and over 75 hours when connected over Bluetooth with ANC off.
The new Pro lineup signals Alienware’s intention to expand its presence in the high-end esports peripherals market, a segment that is becoming increasingly saturated in 2024.
