The recently concluded MPL Malaysia Season 14, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s Malaysian regional league, has recorded the competition’s highest-ever peak viewership.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event garnered a peak viewership of 812,911, around 180,000 more than Season 13’s peak, according to esports data platform Esports Charts. MPL Malaysia Season 13, which took place earlier in the year, was the competition’s previous viewership record holder.

Alongside the increase in peak viewership from the last season, MPL Malaysia Season 14 also recorded an average viewership of 94,956. This is also an increase from Season 13, which had an average of 71,290.

The event was won by Selangor Red Giants, the esports division of Malaysian football club Selangor FC, with a victory over Team Vamos in the Grand Final. This was the most-watched match of the event.

Alongside winning the event, Selangor Red Giants were also the most popular team at the event in terms of hours watched (5.8m). This was followed by Team Vamos (5.1m) and third-placed team TODAK (4.3m).

Unsurprisingly the language stream with the highest viewership for the Malaysian MLBB esports tournament was in Bahasa Malaysia with a peak viewership of 636,231. English streams had a peak of 147,808 whilst Indonesian (31,152), Burmese (29,159) and Khmer (6,243) rounded out the top five most popular broadcasts in terms of languages.

The broadcast platforms that people tuned into for the tournament were much closer in terms of peak viewership in comparison. A peak of 431,197 viewers tuned into the competition on YouTube whilst TikTok Live recorded a max figure of 383,415. Interestingly, this split is much closer than MPL Indonesia Season 14, with YouTube having 2.6m peak viewers compared to TikTok Live’s 1.3m.

As a result of these statistics, MPL Malaysia Season 14 has become its most-watched edition since the league’s inception in 2017.
