Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 is the latest Formula 1 outfit to confirm its plans for the second season of the F1 Esports Series. The team has partnered with Veloce Esports to manage their new line-up, who will go by the name of Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports.
The team will get its first taste of F1 action next week at the F1 esports Series pro draft, which will take place in London on Monday 9th of July, shortly after the British GP taking place this weekend.
Frédéric Vasseur, CEO and Team Principal Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team, had this to say: “eSports is a great opportunity that opens up the F1 world to a wider target audience and young generation, who are the future of our sport. The eSports drivers will benefit from our expertise in racing. Our team has a long tradition in scouting and growing young talent so this new challenge is a perfect fit for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.”
With Sauber confirming their plans for the series, only Ferrari will not take part in the 2018 esports series – with all other teams committing to enter and many fully announcing their plans.

Esports Insider says: It has been interesting to watch the F1 teams enter esports, some teams have decided to attach themselves to an existing sim racing team, while others have chosen to go it alone. The 2018 series promises to be a big evolution for the F1 esports and sim racing scenes.
