North American organisation NRG Esports has partnered with Sony Crackle and Complex Networks to produce a documentary series entitled Hook’d.

The four-part series will premiere on July 27th, followed by five-minute episodes on July 30th, August 1st, and August 15th. It’ll follow the journey of Eduardo “HookGangGod” Deno, a professional Dragon Ball FighterZ player for NRG Esports.

The official trailer for Hook’d is out now, and you can view it below.

The docu-series, more specifically, follows HookGangGod’s preparation in the month leading up to The Evolution Championship Series – otherwise referred to as Evo – on August 3rd-5th. Several prominent and relevant figures will also appear in Hook’d, including his teammate Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada and Shaquille O’Neal. In March of 2016, the NBA Hall of Famer invested in NRG Esports alongside Alex Rodriguez and Jimmy Rollins.

Sony Crackle is just the latest in a growing line of platforms that is creating content surrounding esports. In July 2017, ESL partnered with Disney to produce two original series to be aired on Disney XD. In October of the same year, ESL also signed an extensive content deal with Hulu for four series.

NRG Esports is also partnered with EventsDC, Logitech G, Twitch, ASUS ROG, Nighthawk Pro Gaming, Enjin Coin, OPSEAT, and Cal Esports. The organisation owns the Overwatch League franchise San Francisco Shock.

Esports Insider says: It’s great to see more original esports programming being made, especially by the likes of Sony with distribution on digital platforms owned by Complex. The trailer suggests the docu-series is professionally made and hasn’t been skimped out on, so we’re interested to see the finished product.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
