Competitive gaming platform FACEIT has partnered with Bluehole subsidiary PUBG Corp. to launch online competitive leagues for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).

Together, both partners will produce a progressive league system for PUBG, helping to further develop Battle Royale esports with standardized online competition much like shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Niccolo Maisto, CEO of FACEIT discussed the latest feature to the company’s platform in a statement: “PUBG is one of the most successful video games of all time, and riding on the wave of the recent success of the PUBG Global Invitational, we are looking forward to the opportunity of playing a role in the development of its competitive scene. It has an incredibly devoted and talented fanbase, and we’re in a unique position to provide the community limitless opportunities to progress their skills and play competitively at a whole new level.

“We worked closely with PUBG to develop the integration and ensure players have a truly seamless experience. FACEIT’s integration offers players, of all levels, a clear and motivating progression system. We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome PUBG players to the FACEIT community, and can’t wait to watch the leagues develop.”

A closed beta for this new online system will be launched on August 17th, with the application process currently taking place. This platform will allow for the creation of tournaments and leagues with custom rulesets and brackets, as well as “automatic stats and results fetching”.

Hyowon Yoo, Head of Business Development and Operations, NA/EU for PUBG Corporation also commented: “We are very excited about our partnership with FACEIT, and the value it will bring to our community. Over the past several months, we have worked continuously to bring our players new ways to play and enjoy PUBG. The integration with the FACEIT platform brings the possibility to automatically generate lobbies with customized settings, which is what we were looking to achieve after the release of our custom matches. Having proved our potential as an esport, we now want to focus on building the grassroots that will foster our evolving competitive scene and FACEIT provides the ultimate environment for us to do that.”

PUBG already has a number of online leagues and competitions, with the likes of the Global Loot League, Curse Trials, PUBGOnline, and Auzom all hosting competitions for the popular Battle Royale title.

Esports Insider says: After the PUBG Global Invitational 2018, a lot of eyes are on PUBG esports – and having one of the biggest tournament organisers in shooter esports is an encouraging step for the title. We hope there’s less controversy in the FACEIT PUBG scene than what the FACEIT CS:GO scene sees, however.

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
