Apex Legends has released its new trailer, Prodigy Anthem, which revealed upcoming features such as Bocek bow changes, ranked updates and the brand new legend – Sparrow.
Developers Respawn Entertainment haven’t introduced a new character since May last year, back when Alter entered the Apex Games in Season 21; a dry spell that’s about to end ahead of Season 25.
Fans got a closer look at what to expect from Sparrow’s kit, though nothing is concrete. Based on the trailer, he is using shock arrows to stun enemies, alongside a small jet pack to elevate his leaps. He is also seen using an arm-mounted crossbow to scan nearby enemies.
Viewers have also caught a glimpse of what appears to be changes to the game’s Bocek bow. On the Apex Legends official Prodigy webpage, it states that “all-new Bocek updates are ready to blast their way into your arsenal.” This is then accompanied by Sparrow using the bow with a frag grenade attached to the end of an arrow.
The website also alludes to other upcoming changes, such as Ranked updates, and the announcement of the upcoming Prodigy Premium battle Pass Split 1. However, its content has yet to be revealed.
Alongside the trailer, Sparrow’s lore passage was also revealed on Apex Legend’s website. His real name is Enea Davide Guarino, aged 20 and the passage sheds more light on his bounty-hunting background, and the dogmatic clan/family he was shunned from.
How Will Sparrow Affect The Apex Legends Esports Scene?
Sparrow’s introduction has raised a lot of questions regarding his viability, and how he will fare against the more dominant characters this season. Given the lack of information right now surrounding his kit and upgrades, it is unclear how much of an impact he will have in ALGS Year 5.
Fans will have to wait and see for further updates from Respawn when a gameplay trailer inevitably comes out closer to Season 25.
