FlyQuest issues statement following hateful comments by Marvel Rivals player

FlyQuest has acknowledged accusations regarding the behaviour of one of its Marvel Rivals players, Cooper ‘coopertasti‘”.

A statement was posted by the esports organisation after clips were shared online of insensitive comments made against women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community by the player in question.

In the statement, FlyQuest wrote: “Over the last few days, we’ve been made aware that the behaviour of one of our Marvel Rivals players has crossed the line and made hurtful comments to women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“When a situation like this occurs, where clear mistakes were made, but we genuinely feel that the player wants to learn and improve, we want to commit to helping them grow and be a part of the FlyQuest mission. This player has committed to training and educating themselves with support from FlyQuest to not only do better, but also give them this opportunity to grow.

“We also make it clear that FLY players have very limited chances to show their character before they are no longer a part of our program.”

Cooper’s behaviour was raised by Marvel Rivals content creator and streamer, AshlynnFPS, who criticised the comments made by the professional player during her stream. In a follow-up post, she highlighted a particular moment (1:00-1:11) where Cooper had expressed statements against women and LGBTQIA+ members during an online match.

Cooper himself issued a statement apologising for his comments made to Ashlynn on May 19th, 2025.

“Hello everyone, I truly apologise to anyone whom I have unknowingly affected by what I did,” Cooper said in the post online, “I know that what I said and did upset people and for that I take full responsibility for the impact it has. I specifically want to apologize to those I have wronged in the past and hope to amend that broken trust.

“For that, I have decided to take a step back from ranked and social media to work on my mental health. Thank you all for your support.”

On May 22nd, shortly after Ashlynn’s post, Sentinels’ Chassidy ‘aramori‘ Kaye shared her experiences from her interactions with Cooper, highlighting two specific incidents.

One concerns a comment made about a Marvel Rivals players tier list by 100 Thieves player Anthony ‘delenaa‘ Rosa , where Cooper shared that he didn’t like being placed under aramori. She also shared a clip of him making light of the Sentinels’ Championship win back in Season 1, a victory many considered to be a massive win for women in esports.

The second incident she highlighted was responses made to a comment she posted in light of the tier list, sharing screenshots of Cooper allegedly making reference to the #MeToo movement. She also alleges that Cooper kept spamming #MeToo in scrim lobbies.

In the post online, aramori said: “He had been extremely weird to me in the past but this solidified my feelings, that he was going to continue to behave inappropriately towards women in the scene, treating us as an “other” and insinuating that we are worse or less than because of our gender.

“All I want for the Marvel Rivals esports scene is for it to be inclusive. I want to be competing side by side with other women. This will NOT happen if we let incidents like this fester with no consequences.”

In the statement posted by FlyQuest, the organisation shared how it will be making a donation to the Trevor Project, a charity focused on suicide prevention for LGBTQIA+, and RAINN, a charity tackling sexual violence.

“This is not a one-donation-fixes-all mentality, but we believe it is the right place to start,” FlyQuest said in the statement. “We also hope that this can not only be a learning moment for the player, but also for FlyQuest and everyone who is a part of the gaming community.”

However, some content creators and professional players online have criticised the organisation for not acting on this sooner or imposing harsher penalties against Cooper.
