Marvel Rivals Fight Night‘s 14th matchup has concluded, with both the North American and European brackets crowning new champions.
In NA, ENVY returned after last week’s absence to reclaim its crown from 100 Thieves using the game’s most divisive character in Season 2.5. Meanwhile, Virtus.pro’s absence in EU meant the region crowned a new champion for the first time in over 10 weeks, with Brr Brr Patapim coming out on top.
ENVY Wins NA Thanks to Jeff the Land Shark
In the NA scene, 100 Thieves defended its title as champions in Rivals Fight Night #13 after ENVY couldn’t participate. This week, ENVY returned to reclaim the title they won back in #12.
After defeating DarkZero, formerly Magnets, in the challenger’s match 3-0, ENVY faced off against 100 Thieves in the finals. However, ENVY left victorious with a landslide 3-0 victory, meaning ENVY hadn’t suffered a single loss in this weeks Fight Night.
During the showdown, 100 Thieves had to sub in assistant coach ‘Malenia‘ to replace Harvey ‘hxrvey’ Scattergood, who was facing internet problems, after the first game.
Here is the full breakdown of the finals between ENVY (NV) and 100 Thieves (100T):
- Game 1: NV 2-0 100T, Krakoa – Domination
- Game 2: NV 4-2 100T, Hall of Djalia – Convergence
- Game 3: NV 2-1 100T, Hell’s Heaven – Domination
- End Score: NV 3-0 100T
Commentators highlighted the swap by ENVY’s Alex ‘Window’ Ludlow to the reworked Jeff the Land Shark in order to activate the Storm Team Up, Jeff-Nado, with Nicholas ‘Shpeediry’/’Speedily’ Zou.
During the NA finals match, commentator Andrew ‘ZP’ Rush said: “I feel like they’re (ENVY) just looking ahead of the meta. They were playing things that seemed to just make more sense. Obviously the most notable being the Jeff-Nado, from what we saw, there was only maybe one time where it didn’t completely clean up a team fight.
“I don’t know how much of that was ENVY just knowing it’s super good, and how much of it [is that] 100 Thieves doesn’t know how to play against it, but it looked real effective.”
Marvel Rivals Fight Night #14 Crowns New EU Champion
For the longest time, Virtus.pro has dominated the EU Rivals Fight Night scene. However, after it was announced that they couldn’t attend for Marvel Rivals Fight Night #14, Brr Brr Patapim stepped up to the plat as this week’s defending champion.
After Team 1 defeated Bloodkariudo 3-0 in the Challengers match, they faced off against Brr Brr Patapim. However, this week’s champions came out on top, after defeating Team 1 3-0 in the finals.
Here is the full breakdown of the finals match between Brr Brr Patapim (BBP) and Team 1 (T1):
- Game 1: BBP 2-0 T1, Krakoa – Domination
- Game 2: BBP 2-0 T1, Yggdrasill Path – Convoy
- Game 3: BBP 3-1 T1, Arakko – Convoy
- End Score: BBP 3-0 T1
Commentators were particularly impressed by the performance by Brr Brr Patapim’s Enzo ‘Nzo’ Keippe, who was playing Hulk with a controller as opposed to mouse and keyboard.
During the EU finals match, commentator Jacob ‘JAKE’ Lyon said: “It seems like genuinely viable, at least on maybe the Vanguard role, where I’ve seen it the most.
“I think a lot more in this game depends on your understanding and your team play rather than your raw mechanics or what input method you use. It’s kind of cool, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a game besides Rivals actually hit the balance on that front where it doesn’t feel like the input method is dictating how good you can be.”
