Madison Square Gardens, the venue that played host to the League of Legends World Championships have released a statement today announcing that they were targeted by credit card fraudsters.
Part of the statement found here reads: “Findings from the investigation show external unauthorised access to MSG’s payment processing system and the installation of a program that looked for payment card data as that data was being routed through the system for authorisation”.
The attack could have found data contained from anyone that visited the venue between a wide range of dates: November 9, 2015 to October 24, 2016.
Customers that have attended Madison Square Gardens in that time, including those that visited during the League of Legends World Championships are being urged to be vigilant and keep an eye out for anything untoward with regards to their credit cards.
The company further added “MSG has stopped this incident, and we continue to work with the computer security firms to further strengthen the security of our systems to help prevent this from happening again.”
