EDward Gaming (EDG) has announced the signing of former TYLOO player Zhang ‘hfmi0dzjc9z7’ Juncheng ahead of VALORANT’s VCT China Stage 2.

Alongside signing for the Chinese esports organisation, the player has also simplified his in-game name to ‘zjc’.

EDG officially announced the news in a post on Weibo on June 23rd. As of now, it is unclear if zjc will replace anybody from the team’s roster, which already features five active members:

  • Wan ‘CHICHOO’ Shunzhi
  • Wang ‘nobody’ Senxu
  • Zheng ‘ZmjjKK’ Yongkang
  • Zhang ‘Smoggy’ Zhao
  • Zhang ‘Jieni7’ Juntai

Chinese esports organisation EDG has achieved international recognition within the VALORANT community thanks to its meteoric rise last year. After being eliminated early at both Masters events in 2024, the underdog persevered to claim that year’s VALORANT Champions trophy.

At the start of 2025, it seemed as if EDG would continue its regional and global domination. The team won the first regional competition in VALORANT’s tier-one ecosystem, VCT China Kickoff. At the season’s first international VCT tournament, Masters Bangkok, EDG placed third.

However, upon returning to the Chinese circuit, its momentum has slowed. The team had to make unforeseen roster changes in the midst of Stage 1 after Hsieh ‘S1Mon’ Meng-hsun moved to an inactive position.

The new roster was then eliminated in Playoffs bracket, failing to secure a spot at Masters Toronto.

Who is EDward Gaming’s New Player?

Zjc began his competitive VALORANT career in 2021 under Chinese organisation Attacking Soul Esports. The Chinese player made his international debut at Masters Tokyo in 2023 alongside current FunPlus Phoenix member Qu ‘Life’ Donghao.

Since January 2024, zjc has competed under VCT partner team TYLOO, where he has achieved underwhelming results. Zjc will likely join his new roster for EDG’s first match in the Stage 2 Group Stage. On July 3rd, the team will face off against Titan Esports Club.

Running from July 3rd until August 31st, VCT China Stage 2 is EDG’s final opportunity to qualify for the season-ending VALORANT Champions event.
