Riot Games has announced that in-game content celebrating League of Legends esports history will be coming to Wild Rift.
The new content and rewards will be offered during the 2025 League of Legends World Championship, set to take place in China later this year.
Aside from announcing that in-game content is arriving to League of Legends’ mobile variant, few details have been revealed. However, Riot Games did add that the Wild Rift development team ‘wanted to do something extra special’ to celebrate League of Legends’ players and fans.
The brief statement noted: “The Wild Rift team has been enjoying watching all the high-stakes matches during the 2025 season. Over the years, our dev team has been inspired by watching all-time greats like Faker, Showmaker, Uzi, Deft and more compete.”
More information about the in-game content and rewards will be revealed this fall.
Interestingly, this won’t be the first time in recent memory that Wild Rift has utilised the connection with its PC variant. In April 2025, League of Legends esports legend Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok collaborated with Wild Rift to teach new players how to use Ryze.
Wild Rift’s Own Esports Journey
Since its launch in 2020, the mobile MOBA has undergone numerous changes regarding its esports ecosystem and ambitions. After initially attempting to establish a global esports structure at the beginning of its lifespan, the game shifted its focus to the Asian market in 2022.
While China’s Wild Rift Super League is the game’s main organised competition professionally, Riot Games still hosts a variety of smaller regional events around the world.
For 2025, Wild Rift also unveiled its plans to expand organised play to help support more players on a competitive level. This included growing its Wild Rounds regional tournament initiative to host 18 events in Brazil, Korea, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam.
In Europe, Riot Games and The Purge Tournament host a competitive tournament series called the Wild Circuit.
