The FGC is disappointed with Vi’s cinematics in 2XKO

Vi is the latest addition to the character roster in Riot Games’ fighting game, 2XKO, and while her aggressive playstyle has majorly received a positive response, her animations have been heavily criticised by the community.

Multiple players have called her cinematics lazy and poorly directed, especially for her ultimate, which appears to not hit the opponent at all. After barely getting any new characters in the last few years, the FGC awaiting 2XKO’s long-awaited release are feeling extra critical.

“She’s just hitting air…,” said a Reddit user.

“They shouldn’t have done cinematic supers if they weren’t going to commit. Full stop. This is halfassed and looks bad,” posted another.

In addition to this, while Vi brings pace and mobility to the team, some fans feel that Riot could have chosen a better League of Legends character, but went with her because of her popularity from Arcane.

Discussing the potential reasons behind the disappointing animations, a gamer speculated: “It either has to do with time constraints or technical issues with the cinematic system. My guess is they didn’t have a lot of time to get this out.”

That said, a lot of players are optimistic about Vi’s kit and are excited to try her out at Evo 2025.

Community Frustration Over Limited Character Pool

2XKO, previously known as Project L, was first announced in 2019 and, since then, Riot has only confirmed eight playable characters to be a part of the game.

It will undergo closed beta testing in September after six years of development, but despite that, some fans believe the team didn’t have ‘much time’ to work on Vi.

“I think they rushed her out after all the complaints about the small roster, I wouldn’t be surprised to see these things updated in the future,” a user stated.

While Riot is known for delivering polished products, the lack of regular updates cannot be ignored. It’s been a long while since the last update, so getting a seemingly unfinished Vi after such a long wait has not left the FGC confident.

2XKO is scheduled to release sometime in 2025, so it will be a challenge for the team to fix everything up while potentially expanding the character roster ahead of launch.
