TL;DR

  • The Marvel Rivals Summer Special event lasts until August 15, 2025
  • Players can unlock summer skins in the event with free and premium versions
  • Summer skins can be bought in the shop for units
  • Recolours of summer skins can be bought for Unstable Molecules once the original skin has been obtained
  • Some of the best summer skins in Marvel Rivals include Sunshine Racoon Rocket, Cool Summer Luna, and Breezy Butterfly Psylocke.

At the time of writing (July 2025), the very first summer event in Marvel Rivals is well underway, offering players the chance to collect some cool summer-themed cosmetics for different heroes.

The Marvel Rivals summer skins are somewhat unique, as they are not all relegated to the summer-specific event going on right now. Instead, some of the skins were released beforehand as part of the previous season. These skins are part of the “Sunshine” skin collection, and only one was released as part of the current event.

We’re going to be looking at all Marvel Rivals summer special event skins and how to get them. As well as the event-specific skins, we will also check out the Sunshine summer outfits and how to get them. In addition, we will also include the customised recolours of summer skins, as they are obtained differently and have their names.

With that in mind, let’s check out the Marvel Rivals summer skins and how to get them.

How to get summer skins in Marvel Rivals

There are a few different ways that Marvel Rivals summer special skins and Sunshine skins can be obtained. As you can see from the table above, some can be bought in the Marvel Rivals in-game store, while others can be earned from completing games and progressing through the Summer Special event.

Only one skin–Thor’s Worthy Waves–can be obtained for free, as this is part of the free cosmetics included in the event. The other skins in the event–Luna’s Cool Summer and The Thing’s Sunshine Thing–need the premium event pass to unlock, which costs 990 Lattice.

Other than Sunshine Thing, the other three Sunshine skins for Rocket Raccoon, Squirrel Girl, and Jeff the Land Shark can be purchased in the shop. Psylocke and Loki’s summer skins are also purchasable for units. The Marvel swimsuit skins, which have been highly anticipated, are part of the current summer event.

Customised recolours of the skins, which are denoted in the table above, are purchased differently. These can only be bought with Unstable Molecules, a form of currency designed especially for purchasing custom recolours. Unstable Molecules can be earned in the battle pass, but the main way of obtaining them is by exchanging them for Lattice (which can only be purchased with real money).
