UK esports organisation exceL Esports has announced a joint partnership with Icy Veins and Enthusiast Gaming. The partnership will be specifically aimed at the exceL World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon Invitational team exceL’s Angels.
exceL Esports brought the former Kjell’s Angels roster into the organisation back in August, shortly after the game’s latest expansion Battle for Azeroth. The roster consists of healer Rory “Cirra” Singer, Tank Rasmus “Divinefield” Andersen, DPS Hakon “Dorullkjell” Walberg, Lari “Ashine” Strandberg and Kristoffer “Herudra” Jensen. The team will compete at next the MDI All-Stars event during Blizzcon on November 3rd, with games starting at 5:30 pm CET.
Kieran Holmes-Darby, Managing Director, exceL Esports, had this to say about the deal: “We’ve been speaking with the guys at Icy Veins for a while now and being a personal fan of their site this has been really exciting for me. It is awesome to be announcing this partnership with them in conjunction with Enthusiast Gaming. Long may our fairly new venture into WoW Esports continue. First stop – taking home the MDI trophy at Blizzcon!”
As part of the deal, Icy Veins will feature guides written by the exceL’s Angels players, giving everyone the chance to follow some of the strategies used by some of the top teams in the scene. The deal will also see the team work with Enthusiast Gaming, one of Canada’s leading events, content and advertising companies.
Although the team qualified for the MDI All-Stars event during the end of WoW’s previous expansion, Legion. The team have made an exceptional start to Battle for Azeroth picking up the world’s first Mythic + 15 run. Heading into MDI All-Stars the team are looking like a force to be reckoned with and real favourites.
Esports Insider says: While MDI may only have a small showing at Blizzcon (all things considered), it has still proven to be a big draw for WoW esports. World of Warcraft fans and conossieurs will be hoping the event is a big success so Blizzard may devote further resources into the long-standing game title’s fledgling esports scene.
