Tournament organiser PGL Esports has announced the second Minor event of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season, The Bucharest Minor.
With $300,000 (£230,340) up for grabs, the tournament will take place over January 9-13th in 2019. Gaming chair brand Secretlab is the only partner of The Bucharest Minor that has been announced at this time.
Online qualifiers for the newly-announced event will run across December 1st-5th, with the share of the teams that can qualify as follows:
- One team from North America
- One team from South America
- One team from CIS
- One team from Southeast Asia
- Two teams from Europe
- Two teams from China
This will be the second Minor tournament of the season, following on from DreamLeague Season 10 in Stockholm, Sweden. That particular event kicks off on October 29th and lasts until November 4th.
PGL Esports is also hosting the first Major of the very same DPC season. The Kuala Lumpur Major is stationed in Malaysia and spans over November 9-18th, with a $1,000,000 (£768,325) cash prize and 15,000 pro points available.
Earlier this year – in the previous DPC season – Bucharest was home to a $1,000,000 (£768,325) Major Dota 2 tournament, which was also from PGL Esports. The year before that, the PGL Open Bucharest event was held on October 19-22nd 2017. $300,000 (£230,340) was also the prize pool for the tournament, with eight teams fighting for the lion’s share.
Esports Insider says: PGL obviously has plenty of experience hosting good Dota 2 events at this point, and it’s evident that Bucharest is slowly becoming a mainstay for this particular esport. If The Kuala Lumpur Major runs smoothly and provides some exciting gameplay, then there’s a good chance that Dota 2 fans will be excited for Bucharest, too.
