Esports holding company NIP Group (NIP) has officially appointed Grant Rousseau as the Chief Operating Officer of its esports division.

The new COO will lead and grow the company’s competitive performance, overseeing global operations alongside Co-CEOs Hicham Chahine and Mario Ho.

Rousseau previously worked as the Global Director of Esports at Team Falcons for the past two years. During his tenure, he led the organisation to two Esports World Cup club titles and helped expand Team Falcons’ roster to over 20 different game titles.

Prior to his stint at the Saudi-Arabian team, he also worked as Director of Operations for European teams Splyce and EXCEL Esports (now called GIANTX), mainly focusing on the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC).

At NIP, Rousseau will be leading both competitive and non-competitive performance for the company’s esports division. The global organisation currently fields teams across Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Apex Legends, EA Sports FC, Honor of Kings, Rainbow Six Siege X, Crossfire, Rocket League and Street Fighter.

“Joining NIP Group is a really exciting moment for me,” commented Grant Rousseau, Chief Operating Officer of NIP Group Esports Division.

“I’ve followed the organisation for over a decade as an esports fan, and after speaking with Hicham Chahine and Mario Ho, it’s clear there is an opportunity to bring back the competitive success and passion for the brand that has always made the organisation so special.

“I will be leading the performance and operations of NIP Group’s diverse esports rosters and strengthening the wider business across its established global verticals. The foundations are solid, and my intention is to take the organisation back to the very top.”

NIP Group is Going Beyond Esports

NIP has made several strategic moves since its public listing on the NASDAQ exchange in July 2024.

On top of maintaining its esports endeavours, the company has expanded across different verticals, including game publishing, events production, talent management, and creative studios. Additionally, the company closed a $40m (~£32.6m) investment from ADIO, establishing its global headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The group’s other offices are located in Sweden, China and Brazil.

Last month, the company also expanded into cryptomining, acquiring machines to mine Bitcoins and further diversifying the company’s revenues. The company also closed out a partnership with Chiliz Group and Socios.com to launch its own Fan Token.
