The Game Awards will livestream on Prime Video for the first time on December 11th, alongside its annual broadcast on Twitch.
The 2025 show will air from Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater between 5 – 8pm PT (8 – 11pm ET), featuring world premieres, announcements and live performances. This includes awards celebrating esports’ best player and team.
“We’re thrilled to bring our global celebration of video games to even more audiences with the addition of Prime Video,” Geoff Keighley, Creator and CEO of The Game Awards, said in the announcement.
Keighley added that with Fallout Season 2 and more game adaptations ahead, “Prime Video is a natural home for our show.”
The show will be livestreamed on Twitch in 2K (1440p) for the first time, with thousands of creators able to co-stream. Last year, more than 11,000 creators restreamed the broadcast. Viewers who watch 30 minutes or more will be eligible for Twitch Drops, including exclusive in-game items and a limited-edition TGA chat badge.
Details on specific rewards will be confirmed closer to the show.
Amazon will relaunch its dedicated shop, featuring deals on games, hardware and accessories through December 31st. During the live programme, Prime-exclusive, limited-time offers tied to nominated titles, new releases and peripherals will be revealed in real time, running for up to 24 hours while supplies last.
Esports at The Game Awards
In addition to partnerships with esports organizations such as NODWIN Gaming, the Game Awards includes three esports categories: Best Esports Athlete, Best Esports Team and Best Esports Game.
In 2024, League of Legends won Best Esports Game, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok won Best Esports Athlete and T1 won Best Esports Team. Other nominees last year included Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and VALORANT, alongside athletes such as Jeong ‘Chovy’ Ji-hoon, Mathieu ‘ZyWoO’ Herbaut and Zheng ‘ZmjjKk’ Yongkang.
An expanded distribution footprint — Prime Video plus Twitch co-streams — is likely to increase visibility for these categories among mainstream viewers and casual fans. Esports-specific activations at the show were not detailed in the release, but the higher-fidelity Twitch broadcast and Drops campaign should help engagement around the competitive awards.
With T1 and Faker’s international fanbase and their recent win at Worlds 2025, they are once again strong contenders to win the 2025 awards.
The Game Awards said its 2024 edition reached more than 154 million livestreams across platforms including YouTube, Twitch, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok and Chinese services.
