Movistar KOI (MKOI) Co-Owner Ibai Llanos has confirmed that its entire 2025 roster will continue with the organisation for the 2026 campaign.
Revealing the news on KOI’s Twitch channel alongside streamer Sergio ‘SergioFFerra’ Salcedo, Ibai also noted that the organisation is looking into renewing the contracts of some of its key players beyond next year.
These players are Joseph ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun, Javier ‘Elyoya’ Prades and Álvaro ‘Alvaro’ Amo, with MKOI’s Head Coach Tomás ‘Melzhet’ Campelos also in renewal talks. According to Riot Games’ Global Contract Database, MKOI’s current LEC roster has contracts up until the end of the 2026 season.
At this moment in time, MKOI’s two other starting players, David ‘Supa’ Garcia and Alex ‘Myrwn’ Villarejo, are not part of these renewal discussions.
As a whole, the 2025 season was a rather successful campaign with the organisation improving on its LEC performances from 2024. With the addition of Jojopyun from Cloud9, MKOI went on to win LEC 2025 Spring as well as finish runner-up in the Summer split.
After qualifying for the 2025 League of Legends World Championship, the Spanish team ultimately lost to eventual Worlds winner T1 in the final round of the Swiss Stage to bow out of the tournament.
Building an Infrastructure
Whilst the team will be retained for the 2026 season, Ibai also highlighted that the organisation will be looking to bolster its coaching staff with two new additions.
Moreover, in order to bolster its current talent pipeline, MKOI will have two academy teams next year. KOI Fénix, the organisation’s main academy team, will continue to operate in the tier-two Spanish scene. Meanwhile, a third team will be integrated into the tier-three Spanish ecosystem.
This follows a similar structure to French organisation Karmine Corp, which has academy rosters in the LFL’s first and second divisions.
Whilst MKOI’s main roster will be retained for 2026, the LEC has made some major changes to the upcoming season. Notably, this includes the introduction of a new tournament, LEC Versus, that will replace the Winter split and features two ERL teams — Los Ratones and Karmine Corp Blue. The winner of the event will be the LEC’s representative for First Stand.
