1047 Games has responded to discussions online surrounding Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and the player counts displayed on the data platform Steam Charts.

The portal arena shooter relaunched on December 17th, 2025, to a peak of nearly 2,300 concurrent players, though the developer shared in a statement that it doesn’t ‘show the full picture’.

“Steam Charts don’t measure fun,” the Splitgate social media account wrote. “They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don’t show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play.”

Steam Charts is a platform that records the number of active PC players that are engaging with a specific title, charting how a game’s player base on Steam changes over time. According to SteamDB, it gathers data by using the .NET library, SteamKit, to interface with Valve’s Steam network.

It is important to note that it does not consider other PC launchers, like Epic Games, or players on other platforms, such as consoles and mobile.

The developer’s response is prompted by the reception to Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, a major update that aimed to address the biggest concerns from Splitgate 2’s original launch.

Some have praised the changes brought by 1047 Games, highlighting gunplay and movement. However, others have grown concerned about the title’s longevity after Arena Reloaded failed to reach the same 25,000 peak from Splitgate 2’s original launch back in June 2025.

What is Splitgate: Arena Reloaded?

Splitgate: Arena Reloaded is the culmination of a six-month-long development cycle following an underwhelming launch from its previous build, Splitgate 2.

Splitgate 2 returned to beta following criticisms online surrounding the state of the game, such as store prices and the battle-royale mode, in addition to a string of PR controversies. Since then, 1047 Games held various beta playtests, implementing highly-requested features and making changes in response to community feedback.

Splitgate: Arena Reloaded relaunched near the end of 2025 with a variety of changes, including the removal of factions and abilities, the addition of new arena maps, revised progression, and more.

The official Splitgate social media account also shared that it plans to launch the rework of its battle royale mode later in January, 2026, with more details to be shared soon.
