Esports investments were always going to be coming thick and fast this year but if they keep up at this rate, we’re going to need new keyboards.

Noah Whinston, Immortals

As reported by Venture Beat and Dean Takahashi, another major firm has entered in the form of Lionsgate via Immortals. The film studio is said to have invested in the North American team along with Michael Milken though no figures have been revealed.

Lionsgate President of Interactive Ventures & Games, Peter Levin, commented: “We’re delighted to be an early mover in a market that has the potential to transform the face of sports entertainment.

“Our involvement in esports creates tremendous opportunities to develop new content and utilise our suite of distribution platforms for a coveted consumer demographic with compelling engagement metrics. Collaborating with an elite group of partners, the combination of the Lionsgate and Immortals brands will be formidable.”

Immortals only formed in late 2015 but have quickly made a name for themselves and currently have rosters in CS:GO, League of Legends, Overwatch and Super Smash Bros.

Immortals CEO Noah Whinston stated: “Lionsgate is the perfect entrepreneurial partner for our Immortals family. Immortals and Lionsgate are both focused on developing new entertainment formats, and we’re thrilled to collaborate with them at the cutting edge of esports media.”

Esports Insider says: The possibilities in cool collaborations between Lionsgate and Immortals are obvious. Fans of Immortals should be excited about some top notch content later this year.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
