Following hot in the footsteps of FC Copenhagen, Brøndby IF has now become the latest Danish football club to enter the esports space.

It has taken a different path to FC Copenhagen however who partnered with Nordisk Film to launch under a different banner (North) with a CS:GO roster. Brøndby have taken a somewhat more cautious approach by launching only with FIFA. The club have signed three FIFA pros in the form of Wali Kazmi, Marcus Jørgensen and Jesper Prang.

A press release on the club site stated “We have initially chosen to focus on FIFA, because football is our DNA. There is a clear correlation between Brondby IF’s primary activity and interest in the game from our fans”.

Brondby IF’s Marketing Manager Thomas Skov Petersen added: “This is intended as a method by which to better engage our younger fans in Brondby.”

“The fans will play an important role in this project. We will be using Brøndby Esport to enable players to have a space to meet online, in gyms at Brøndby Stadium or FIFA tournaments both nationally and internationally.”

Peterson also noted that the club made the decision to enter esports in a partnership with Qwatti Esports Agency. He said: “As this is a very important area for Brøndby IF, we have decided to partner up with international esports agency Qwatti eSports. A company which is recognised globally for leading the movement of convergence between sports and esports.

“Their experience with esports team creation, event management, marketing activations and content creation, plus their broad network within esports will be key for our strategy.”

The first big test for the club’s FIFA pros will be the FUT 17 Ultimate Team Challenge Regional Final on May 6 in Madrid.

Esports Insider says: Another football club in esports but another football club only committing to FIFA. It’s good to see big club with considerable followings getting involved but let’s hope they follow it up with involvement in other titles.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
