Pakistani cinema firm Cinepax has been announced as the first international CineLeague partner, with sites in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hyderabad, and Islamabad. Cooldown Ventures have been consulting with Cinepax to curate content for the cinema chain’s pre-show esports events.

Sonny Waheed, Chief Marketing Officer at Cooldown Ventures discussed the venture in a release: “The CineLeague delivers esports with a cinematic twist, creating exciting opportunities for the existing esports community and new audiences too. We’re delighted to be working with Cinepax to develop esports in Pakistan – the market and many others like it are hungry for new entertainment. Esports is the perfect fit.”

Cooldown Ventures is currently in discussions with 10 further international cinema chains as part of the initial roll-out of CineLeague. It plans to provide a platform for local esports talent, to make esports more accessible, and to deliver a nation-to-nation esports tournament.

Mariam El Bacha, CEO of Cinepax added: “Esports is huge in Pakistan and it’s great to be able to nurture and build local talent and deliver locally created content. Cooldown Ventures are unique in understanding both esports and the specific dynamic that is the cinema industry, and have helped deliver a programme that will offer engaging, community-driven content that leverages the power of esports and the excitement of big screen entertainment.”

Cooldown Ventures announced that it had acquired assets from WeGotGame in June, thus taking control over Vexed Gaming and operating out of its Manchester, UK offices.

Esports Insider says: We’ve seen esports heading to cinemas more and more over the years, but this seems to be utilising them in different ways. We’re interested to see which other nations CineLeague operates in, and which cinema chains Cooldown Ventures can get on board.
