In an effort to accelerate the adoption of World Cricket Championship 2 as a competitive title, it has features for both spectators and casters. Considering this partnership, it’s clear that Nextwave Multimedia is pushing to make the cricket title an esport.

PR Rajendran, Founder and CEO of Nextwave Multimedia, spoke on the deal in a release: “The commitment towards delivering the best and establishing a personal connection with our users to innovate and improvise the gameplay has helped us achieve this success in mobile cricket gaming. We are excited to bring WCC to the MPL platform. We hope to see even more excitement from WCC fans as they can now monetise their skills in the game.”

Mobile Premier League is a mobile esports tournament platform that boasts Tencent’s PUBG Mobile among its offering. In addition to World Cricket Championship 2, the platform has fantasy games for football, basketball, and kabaddi.

Sai Srinivas Kiran, Co-founder and CEO of Mobile Premier League, added: “Cricket in the digital world goes much beyond just Fantasy. By getting one of the world’s biggest cricket games- WCC- we have given our users yet another skill-based game to monetize their cricket and gaming skills. As a platform, we are constantly adding games that our users want to experience.”

Esports Insider says: This appears to be the first simulation cricket title that has become a prospect for esports. India is a hot spot for a game like cricket, it’s a country which makes up roughly 90 percent of a billion cricket fans globally, and – although it is difficult to predict the future – a partnership like this could take the esports market by surprise.

  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
