DOJO Madness, an esports big data startup, have today announced the acquisition of LeagueCoaching.gg in a move to expand their data-driven offerings into the personal training market.
The deal will see LeagueCoaching.gg co-founders Weldon Green and Joshua Hilton join DOJO Madness in lead capacities. Weldon Green has extensive experience as a professional coach with organisations including Counter Logic Gaming, Team Liquid, G2 Esports, TSM and Fnatic, and more. Joshua Hilton created the original site, LoL-Coaching.com in 2013 and remains the lead developer.
LeagueCoaching.gg serves as a marketplace where esport players seeking to improve can train their skills through one-on-one and group sessions with paid trainers. It also aims to bring scientific sport training methods to esports, with a pioneering certification program for League of Legend’s trainers and coaches. Coaching for additional titles is also on the way.
DOJO Madness is an industry leader when it comes to utilising big data in esports to build tools and services that help players and fans master and understand their favourite esports games. Their SUMO app provides guidance, based on historic data, to individual players across League, Dota 2 and Overwatch. The acquisition of LeagueCoaching.gg, which currently has 68,000 students and 24,000 coaches registered on the platform adds a human coaching layer that DOJO’s SUMO product had not previously offered.
