Reid joins ReKTGlobal from digital media agency VaynerX. During her tenure at the agency, she was a human resources leader, assisting in people processes as the company underwent global growth.

Reid spoke on her appointment: “I’m truly passionate about people and their overall well being. It’s a privilege to advocate for and represent each employee at the leadership level. As one of the few esports organisations elevating women in leadership, I appreciate ReKTGlobal’s commitment to diversity and creating an equitable working environment.”

In October, the company announced it had raised $35m (£26.9m) from private equity and investment firm Summit Partners. Thanks to this investment, ReKTGlobal says it has entered a phase of ‘hypergrowth’ which will lead to several new hires across a number of departments.

Amish Shah, Co-Founder of ReKTGlobal, also spoke on Reid’s hiring: “We are thrilled to welcome Hannah Reid as our first Chief People Officer. As one of the only esports organisations to reach profitability, we’ve now set our sights on building a global culture that challenges the male-dominated status quo. With Hannah’s arrival, we hope this sheds a light on the opportunity for women in executive positions in esports and makes the case for other esports organizations to follow suit.”

Esports Insider says: With only a small minority of women competing and working in esports, it’s great to see Hannah in an executive position. It will be interesting to see if this particular hire is the catalyst for other organisations to make hires of a similar nature.
