National Student Esports (NSE), the official body of university esports in the UK, has announced that the Intel FutureGen programme will be returning in 2021.
The initiative, which launched in 2019, aims to cultivate new esports talent from UK universities.

Like previous years of the programme, a total of ten students will be selected to participate alongside the students selected for the 2020 programme, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jon Tilbury, Managing Director of NSE, commented on Intel’s continued involvement and the value of the FutureGen programme: “After the success of last year’s programme, we are thrilled that Intel continues to partner with NSE on FutureGen. NSE’s mission is to encourage students to reach their full potential and an initiative like Intel FutureGen is a great tool to help them gain experience and insights into the industry.”

FutureGen is open to all students taking part in full-time study at a UK university. Applications to be a part of the 2021 programme are open until January 17th. Once applications are closed, a judging panel will select the ten students to be in the class of 2021.
Jack Fenton, Intel FutureGen 2020 Cohort, spoke on his experience of the programme: “The Intel FutureGen programme offered a real range of opportunities not just to me but to all my peers who were lucky enough to get selected. Even through lockdown, we were provided eye-opening experiences where we were introduced to new valuable concepts and learnings. I’m really grateful for my place on the programme and I know it’ll continue to benefit me as I look to advance my career.”
