Gfinity Plc has revealed hotly anticipated details of their Elite Series competition. Following the recent extension on the Challenger Series, Gfinity has now revealed that the Challenger Series will close on 4th June.
This makes way for the next stage of Gfinity’s three-step plan, the Elite Draft, which will be held on the 16th June. 48 of the most talented amateur players will earn their place on stage playing alongside the professional teams in the Gfinity Elite Series – which will get underway at 6.00pm on 7th July.
In addition to these dates, Gfinity have also announced a Player’s Day, which will take place on 26th and 27th June in London. All players will attend, including newly drafted team members, to eye up the competition for the first time ahead of battle at the Elite Series.
The Elite Series, which runs for nine intense weeks, kicks off with Street Fighter V taking the 6:00pm to 10:00pm Friday night slot, followed by 12 hours of battle in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive starting at 10:00am in the Saturday slot, and rounding off the weekend with Rocket League on Sundays between 12:00pm and 6:00pm.
In the regular season, the eight teams will play seven matches each, within three separate leagues defined by game title, facing each opponent once. Following the regular season, the top four teams will progress to a playoff spot for each of the three leagues. The playoffs will then be set into two semi-finals with the winners meeting head to head in the final for the top cash prize and the chance to be crowned Elite Series champion.
In addition, Gfinity will be running a franchise championship, which means that every time a team wins, the franchise wins its own prize money, with all winnings from the independent title leagues paid out to the players.
