According to the release, GRID aims to ensure that data within Epic’s events are securely distributed, meanwhile the platform’s solutions will also be utilised to create content, such as visual additions, to the tournament organiser’s Russian broadcast. The data-driven content will also be available on TEBTV’s English broadcast.

The first tournament of Epic’s D2CL series will be held online and its group stage is set to take place from April 5th-10th. In total, 20 teams will compete in the competition, with 15 teams receiving direct invites to either the group stages or the play-offs.

Some of the invited teams include Vikin.gg, Team Spirit, High coast and Hellraisers. All four of these teams have been directly invited to the play-offs.

Prior to the group stage, open qualifiers will be held from April 3rd – 4th in order to determine the remaining five slots.

Epic has also revealed that the total prize pool for its inaugural C2CL event is $25,000.

GRID was established in 2018 with the intention of providing data services for monetisation and fan engagement for tournament organisers and game publishers. Some of the platform’s partners include the likes of, We Play Esports, Funspark and LetsPlay.Live.

Esports Insider says: GRID continues to add to its ever-expanding list of partners, with yet another tournament organiser entrusting the firm with the responsibility of distributing data. The demand for esports data continues to grow, as such the importance of firms like GRID continues to increase.
