Representatives from esports media holding company WePlay Esports, alongside professional boxers Oleksandr Usyk and Vasyl Lomechenko, have signed an agreement to create a company that will hold WePlay Ultimate Fighting League (WUFL) tournaments.
According to the release, the new company will also develop products and operate worldwide, with some projects expected to go ‘beyond esports’. WUFL will use resources from WePlay Esports and the assets of its partners to fulfil these goals.

The WePlay Ultimate Fighting League was officially revealed last December on the last day of the WePlay Dragon Temple Mortal Kombat 11 LAN in Kyiv. The event’s inaugural season saw Mortal Kombat 11, SOULCALIBUR VI, and Tekken 7 competitions take place with a $50,000 (~£36,352) prize pool on the line for each title.
The new agreement was announced on the final day of WUFL Season 1 by WePlay Esports’s Managing Partners Yura Lazebnikov and Oleg Krot, undefeated boxer Oleksandr Usyk, and two-time Olympic champion Vasyl Lomachenko.
Lazebnikov commented: “The WePlay Ultimate Fighting League has a great capacity to create new and original products at the intersection of esports and sports. Partner companies’ insights and physical venues such as the WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv will help WUFL draw in fighting game fans from across the world and scale up the global fighting game community.”
Following the company announcement, it was revealed that all four individuals will be equal partners.

Vasyl Lomachenko, world champion in three weight classes and two-time Olympic champion, added: ” In terms of entertainment value and the amount of sheer passion, esports can easily compare with sports. Esports Insider says: The creation of a new company specifically tailored for the WUFL looks to be a smart decision, especially with WePlay’s ambitions to become a major force in the FCG scene. There’s no doubt that continuing to having well-known boxing names involved will also help WePlay promote the WUFL and expand its reach to more fans.
