HyperX, the gaming peripherals division of Kingston Technology, is now a part of Hewlett Packard (HP), the companies announced in a release.
This marks the last step in a lengthy acquisition process first announced by HP in February.

The HyperX brand is most known for its gaming headsets and RAM, as well as other computer peripherals. The brand also has a long history of partnering with esports teams and companies — most recently with Red Bull Racing Esports and Virtus.pro.
HP is also a noted figure in gaming and esports. Its in-house gaming brand OMEN has sponsored orgs such as Cloud9 and BIG in the past. OMEN is currently a partner of Astralis, among others.
According to the release, HP intends to use this acquisition to drive growth to its Personal Systems business, where gaming and peripherals are ‘attractive segments’. The disclosed value of the transaction is $425m (£300m).

Esports Insider says: HyperX is a household name in the esports industry, and is a valuable addition to HP’s portfolio. It remains unclear what will happen with the existing peripherals brand OMEN that still exists within HP and overlaps with HyperX in a number of products.
