The esports team of WME|IMG, the company besides the million dollar CS:GO Major ELEAGUE, will no longer work for the company.

The four-person team led by Tobias Sherman allowed WME|IMG to break into esports in the way that they have as well as establish a certain level of regulation and transparency that was previously not seen in esports. Sherman stated in an email that the team’s departure will allow them to continue pioneering esports and focus on TV and digital programming:

“Upon my resignation and that of my team, we will now be able to continue our track record of firsts in a variety of

new ways,” Sherman said in an email on Sunday. “I also intend to create and produce more esports programming across TV and digital which is something that would not be possible as an agent.”

The team assisted WME|IMG strike several deals in esports, such as those with Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting as well as the one between the Philadelphia 76ers, Team Dignitas and Apex. In addition, they also launched the company’s esports training platform Boomeo, which provided training videos and tips from esports pros.

“We appreciate all that Tobias contributed to our growth in the esports space and wish him the best in his next chapter,” WME/IMG responded in a statement.

The company will reportedly continue their operations with ELEAGUE and will seek out replacements for the departed team. According to a report by Bloomberg Technology, “A representative for WME/IMG declined to comment on how big an impact the departures might have.”

Esports Insider says: It will be interesting to see where the four colleagues released from WWE | IMG go next and the direction the company takes in the future. They will all continue to move together, so it’ll be interesting to see where they go.
