The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) has entered a data partnership with German software corporation SAP for the 2021 Summer Playoffs.

As part of the deal, SAP will collaborate with the LEC stats team to create new statistics segments during the Summer Playoffs. SAP will also provide insights into the performances of fan-favourite LEC players, including how they rank against an average of all pro players in multiple situations i.e. item completion, player performance records, and objective taking.

SAP will join fellow Summer Playoff sponsors, including Mastercard.

Lars Lamadé, Head of Global Sponsorships at SAP said: “With our experience in in-game analytics in the MOBA genre, we are proud to now bring our knowledge of data and software to the LEC, providing relevant context and new ways for League broadcasts, as well as delivering richer and more meaningful insights to the audience in the live stream.”

Earlier this year, North American esports organisation Team Liquid extended its partnership with SAP for the fourth time. The two entities have been partners since 2018, and this experience has enabled SAP to work with the LEC stats team since Spring 2020.

Zeynep Gencaga, Senior Manager of Business Development and Partnerships for Europe and MENA at Riot Games also commented: “There is no doubt SAP is a global powerhouse, and the company has carried over its vast knowledge and experience in enterprise application software into our world of esports through this partnership.

“SAP’s engineers have been working tirelessly with our team to help innovate the visualisation of statistics to further nourish our LEC storylines, giving an extra edge to every little bit of data. We are very excited to welcome SAP as a Summer Finals Partner to showcase the fruits of our collaboration to the wider esports community.”

Esports Insider says: Given that SAP and the LEC teams have been working together behind the scenes for some time, it is not surprising to see the company officially become a LEC sponsor. It will be interesting to see how SAP’s technology and data add to the viewing experience and how they will help players and teams in-game.

We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
