The two parties will collaborate to raise awareness of how digital device usage can impact the eyes, a topic that is hugely important in an industry where players and content creators can spend several hours looking at screens.

Jason Lake, Founder and CEO of Complexity Gaming, spoke on the deal in a release: “Proper eye care is an essential part of our ongoing commitment to improve the holistic health and wellness of esports athletes. Partnering with Alcon will help to educate our players, content creators, and the community-at-large on the importance of ocular health.”

In recent years, several organisations have joined forces with a number of eyewear brands and companies to promote the importance of eye health. In 2020, Immortals entered a deal with BLNQ for its LCS team, meanwhile SK Gaming expanded its existing partnership with Hylo Eye Care.

Jeff Huffman, Senior Director of Dry Eye and Ocular Health Marketing at Alcon, added: “Alcon is excited to partner with Complexity through this first-of-its kind partnership that we hope will help players understand vision changes they might be having because of dry eye and help them find real relief.”

“Through this partnership, we are thrilled to introduce a new audience to our family of products which includes the newly launched Systane Hydration Multi-Dose Preservative Free lubricant eye drops at a time when they most need relief from dry eye symptoms and can keep their eyes on the prize.”

Esports Insider says: Complexity partnering with Alcon is another step forward for the organisation and its efforts to give players the best possible care. With eye care being a huge area for potential collaborations, there’s every chance more organisations will enter deals of a similar nature.
