Wargaming has made a monumental 1,000-hour Facebook Live streaming commitment, it was announced today.
Just days before Gamescom gets underway, Wargaming Group Ltd., developer of massive MMO World of Tanks, and Facebook declare a venture which will see more than a thousand hours of live esports and on-demand content streamed on the platform.
Fans of the game need only to head to the company’s Facebook Pages to browse live game streams and access information on new products (and on gameplay-related historical content). They will also have the opportunity to actively participate in interviews with popular streamers by asking questions using Facebook’s live comment feeds.
Wargaming will also handle the coverage of its live esports events, including the World of Tanks regional and final tournaments, through the site.
The Senior Vice President of Commercial Development at Wargaming, Jamy Nigri, described using Facebook as “an obvious step” in the process of distributing content. “We’ll be introducing new ways to interact with our games to our 3.9 million Facebook community members and gamers across the globe. Player happiness is at our core, and we can’t wait to let fans engage through Facebook.”

He described how Wargaming had already established themselves as “an incredibly progressive creator of video content” and praised the following they had built. “Team-based MMOs like World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships make up some of the most popular gaming communities on Facebook, and we’re looking forward to all the creative ways in which Wargaming will bring fans closer to the games they love.”
