With many other football teams already having entered the esports space, Celtic FC are the latest to enter the realm. Working with the Dublin-based esports agency Qwatti, Celtic are kicking off their esports interaction with a FIFA 18 tournament, with a small twist.

The tournament comes whilst the club celebrates the 50th anniversary of them winning the European Cup, the predecessor of the current Champions League. The tournament will be on the XBOX One, and require everyone to play as Celtic FC in the Head-to-Head competition. On offer for the winner is a wide range of prizes with Celtic FC apparel, tickets to the Bayern Munich Champions League home game and a trip to Paris, with a ticket to the away game at PSG on offer. To top it all off, the winner of the tournament will also have the opportunity to face off against one of PSG’s professional FIFA players.

Qwatti is amongst the go-to agencies for football teams getting involved in esports. Celtic is just the latest name they’ve added to a list including Schalke 04, Brondby IF and Dynamo Kyiv. The agency operates multiple aspects of the football clubs’ esports offerings, from operating their teams to running events under their name.

This might not be the last we hear from Celtic in esports. Apart from signing a deal with Qwatti to organise their esports offerings, the description on the agency’s website finishes with: “In the year that Celtic Football Club is celebrating 50 years after winning the European Cup, it is now time to embrace new generation trends and also join esports!”. Exciting times could well be on the horizon for the Scottish club.

Esports Insider says: As a club beloved by one member, and one member only, of Team ESI, it’s exciting to see the Bhoys enter esports. With their level of interaction limited to a small tournament for now, the way they’ll grow into the rest of esports will be monitored closely by all.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
