The first Vainglory World Championships have been announced and will take place in none other than Hollywood this December 2-4.
Heini Vesander, Marketing and Communications Director at Super Evil Megacorp told MCV: “This is the first time we are organising Vainglory Worlds, with 12 of the best teams from around the globe competing for the Championship.
“Together with our esports partner Twitch, we wanted to select a venue and location that is prestigious for an event of this caliber. And what’s a better place than the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre (formerly Grauman’s Chinese Theatre | Mann’s Chinese Theatre) in Los Angeles, which is one of the entertainment capitals of the world? It also makes sense for us to stay on our home turf for the first Worlds. In the future, you can expect Worlds to be organized in different countries around the World.”
The Worlds is a big step up for Vainglory, the previous competitions for which have featured only eight teams.
The 12 teams taking part include Team SoloMid, Hammers Velocity, and one more to be confirmed from North America. From Europe there is Team Secret, SNOW Avalanche and one more TBD, from China there is Team Hunters, Invincible Armada will represent Korea whilst Japan’s ILLMATIC will feature. Making up the rest is INFAMOUS LEGION from Southeast Asia and Amaterasu Gaming from South America. There will also be one wild card entry.
