The Music Pass–previously known as the Festival Pass–offers a range of cosmetics revolving around the starring artist, with previous musicians involved including Sabrina Carpenter, Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga.

Bruno Mars is a pop singer whose music is infused with funk, R&B, reggae, and soul elements, and his music pass reflects this. Let’s take a closer look at the Fortnite season 9 music pass to see what is included and if it is worth the cost.

Is the season 9 Bruno Mars Fortnite Music Pass worth it?

Fortnite outfit "Die With a Smile Bruno" features a Bruno Mars in a blue suit and white hat on a green background. Music Pass required highlights.
There are four pages worth of items in the season 9 Music Pass, though most of the items are only obtainable by paying for the premium pass / Image credit: Epic Games

The Bruno Mars Music Pass costs 1,400 V-Bucks. Players who don’t have any V-Bucks stored up will have to either buy two bundles of 1,000 V-Bucks or one bundle of 2,800 V-Bucks to purchase the pass. Two 1,000 bundles cost $17.98, while a 2,800 bundle costs $22.99. 1,400 V-Bucks is approximately $9 in total, although without any in-game currency stored, it will be a more expensive purchase due to the V-Buck bundle amounts.

$9 is an okay price for everything players get with the season 9 Fortnite music pass. There are 21 rewards to unlock and two skins, but it’s only really worth it for big fans of Bruno Mars. The free items are decent, especially since all you need to do is play any games available in Fortnite to progress through the tiers and earn them. However, the paid items are much more tailored to Bruno Mars fans, with more of his content locked behind the premium paywall.

Fans of the Jam Tracks might be interested in purchasing the pass just for the songs, as there are a few hit tracks included, such as ABC– a classic soul song by The Jackson 5–and Leave the Door Open, a R&B pop soul number from Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak (otherwise by their duo band name Silk Sonic). The Bruno Mars costume skins are also sure to be appealing, especially for die-hard fans. The other cosmetics in the premium version of the pass are nice enough, but for players who aren’t invested in them, they won’t be enough to entice them to buy the entire pass.

As mentioned, the Bruno Mars skins and some of the Jam Tracks could tempt some players into spending 1,400 V-Bucks on the pass. However, it is a little disappointing that Die With A Smile isn’t included in the pass as a Jam Track. Several cosmetics based on the hit song by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga are included in the pass, but the actual song as a Jam Track has to be made as a separate purchase through the store. This seems like a cash grab move, especially since there are other Die With A Smile cosmetics available in the pass, such as the Bruno Mars skin, which is based on the outfit he wears in the music video, and an emote.

Conclusion

All in all, the Bruno Mars Fortnite Music Pass is only worth purchasing if you are highly invested in Bruno Mars as a whole or are particularly interested in any of the cosmetics on offer. The free items are more than enough to keep casual fans entertained, as there is a nice selection of cosmetics and Jam Tracks that can be unlocked without making a purchase.
