The EA Sports FC 26 release date is set for September 26, 2025, and it will continue to build on the company’s rebranded football series. Also, it will perhaps be the most important title for the series since its relaunch, as it will be in play as the FIFA World Cup kicks off in North America next year, which, as EA CEO Andrew Wilson said in a recent earnings call, is a “great acquisition and engagement opportunity for the franchise.”

Early access has now begun for the game, giving players the first chance to play with all of the new features and mechanics. However, unless you have already pre-ordered it, here’s everything you need to know about the FC 26 release date and price.

New gameplay presets, archetype system, and Ultimate Team revamp

FC 26 will have several new updates over the previous edition, starting with an overhauled gameplay. Electronic Arts has said that as a part of this, the game will have improved dribbling, a smarter AI, sharper movement, and more lifelike animations.

The game is also set to feature two gameplay presets, namely Competitive and Authentic.

  • Competitive: This is the normal FC experience and is tuned for head-to-head action. It has faster passing and more direct control.
  • Authentic: This will give players a true football experience through modes like career. EA has said that it would have more responsible defenders, realistic corners, and more.

The first places a large emphasis on speed, fluid gameplay, and end-to-end football. Some of the more tedious mechanics such as energy and fatigue are removed, while AI defending has a major nerf. All of these changes put more responsibility into the hands of the players.

Meanwhile, the ‘Authentic’ mode puts players into a more cinematic environment. It’s all a bit more lifelike, with tighter defending, chaotic rebounds, weather effects and a little twist of randomness with each pass and shot.

FC 26 is also getting a new archetype system, which allows players to customise and develop unique players in clubs and the career mode.

One of the more exciting features is a revamp to Ultimate Team. This includes new tournaments with up to four rounds of knockout matches, live events, new ‘Challengers’ for lower division players, and Bounties, which offer extra rewards.

FC 26 Career Mode sees an overhaul. Manager careers will now contain live challenges inspired by real-world scenarios. The game also introduces a brand new Manager Market system. As part of this, team tactics will evolve as managers change, similar to real life.

Finally, Clubs Mode is getting significant enhancements. This includes the ability to be affiliated with up to three clubs at once. It will also have dynamic live events with unique rules, and a revamped ‘be-a-goalkeeper’ system.
