The inaugural qualifying event in Europe will see 20 players from Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Turkey, and the United Kingdom compete in an attempt to become eligible for 2020’s draft.
Brendan Donohue, Managing Director of the NBA 2K League discussed the event in a release: “Building on the success of last season’s APAC Invitational, which identified several draft-eligible players from the Asia‑Pacific region, it is important for us to further strengthen our player pool by providing more opportunities for top international players to qualify for the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft.”

At the end of the invitational, a committee of league representatives and team managers will identify standout players and make them eligible for the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft, where players will have the opportunity to compete for one of 23 franchises in the league in the following season.
NBA 2K League identified and selected players for the inaugural European event through community Pro-Am competitions and past performances in NBA 2K events. The European Invitational begins on December 14th and will be streamed on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
Esports Insider says: After the success of the APAC Invitational, the European edition will act as a great way to cultivate new talent from across Europe. With Shanghai becoming the first franchise outside of North America, the future is looking nationally diverse for the league.
