TL;DR

  • Accessories in Marvel Rivals are equippable cosmetics with on-screen animations.
  • Accessories are not universal and can only be equipped to the corresponding hero.
  • Players can unlock accessories by earning Accessory Points in games. They don’t have to be purchased with real money.
  • At the time of writing, there are 12 accessories available in Marvel Rivals.
  • Heroes with accessories include Luna Snow, Spider-Man and Emma Frost.

Accessories in Marvel Rivals are a fun, cosmetic way to express yourself, but not every hero in the game has a corresponding accessory. The ones that are currently available are well-designed trinkets that have a little bit of interactivity to them. The best part about accessories is that you don’t have to use real money to buy them. Seeing as most live service games in this day and age will try to use absolutely everything and anything as an excuse to cash in, this is particularly refreshing.

Let’s dive into everything you need to know about accessories in Marvel Rivals, including how to obtain them and which heroes currently have equippable accessories.

What are Marvel Rivals accessories?

As mentioned, accessories are cosmetics in Marvel Rivals. Once they have been purchased, players can equip them to the corresponding hero as a charm of sorts. These are not universal cosmetics, as each accessory is assigned to a particular hero.

Accessories are surprisingly technical, as they can integrate with any skins for the hero the charm is designed for. This means that no matter how complicated a skin might be, the accessory will still be attached and visible. This might not seem significant, but it’s an impressive technical feat that shows that care and thought have been put into these virtual trinkets.

Accessories also have visual effects that appear on the screen when they are equipped. A small animated version of the charm is noticeable on the right side of the screen when the hero has it equipped. Whenever the player gets a kill or an assist, the character on screen will celebrate with a small animation. The animations and the accessory character are noticeable, but not too distracting. They make for a quirky addition to the screen without hindering gameplay.

Accessories in Marvel Rivals can be purchased with Accessory Points, also known as AP. As mentioned, you do not have to spend real money on these to obtain them. Instead, Accessory Points can be earned by completing games, and they can be earned in the following game modes:

  • Quick Match
  • Competitive
  • Arcade Games
  • Practice Vs. AI

At the time of writing, players can only earn 700 Accessory Points a week, as this is what the current weekly cap is. The first 200 AP earned comes with a bonus, allowing early AP progress to speed up a bit. Accessories currently cost 1,350 Accessory Points, so it would take two weeks of earning the maximum amount of points to purchase one accessory. Accumulated AP will remain in your account, so you don’t have to worry about losing them if you don’t spend them right away.

To find the accessories, navigate to the Store tab on the game’s menu. Scroll to the accessories tab to see which accessories are currently available. Any accessories you already have will be marked as owned. Once you have earned 1,350 AP, choose the accessory you want and click on it to buy it.

Once you have purchased your accessory, you can immediately equip it to the hero. Each hero has their accessory in a different position on their body, but this can change depending on the skin they are wearing. As seen in the image above, Luna Snow’s is on her back when she is wearing the Abyssal Flame skin. However, the White Fox accessory is on her hip when she is wearing her default. Some heroes wear their accessories on their wrist, while others have them in more unique places, such as Magneto, whose accessory hovers inside the metallic rings on his back. When playing as a hero with an accessory equipped, the aforementioned animations will appear on-screen above the KO Prompt when you get a KO or an assist.
