TL;DR
- Tekken 8 has been out since January 2024 for Sony PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
- Although Tekken 8 was positively reviewed upon its release, its Season 2 pass and the decision to bring back Heihachi Mishima have caused a fall in popularity.
- Armor King, Dragunov, and Hwoarang are among Tekken 8’s S-Tier fighters.
- Kuma, Leroy, and Panda are the lowest-rated Tekken 8 fighters.
- Mairy Zo has been confirmed as the final Season 2 character for Tekken 8, set to appear later this year.
Tekken 8 is heading towards the end of its Season 2 DLC pass, and it seems to be ending on better form than its April debut. Developer Bandai Namco has been on a spree of fixing unbalanced mechanics since the Season’s release, but has also been trying to fix the game’s reputation by bringing in some fan favourite characters.
Recently, we’ve seen the return of Fahkumram, Armor King, and soon, Mairy Zo, who seems to be a reincarnation of Tekken 3’s final boss, Ogre, once she appears in December later this year. However, with one character left for Season 2, we’re updating our tier list below to see where Fokuram and Armor King fit into, and how good they play in Tekken 8.
How our Tekken 8 tier list was compiled
We have used the SABC tier system to rank our Tekken 8 character tier list.
- S-Tier: The best Tekken 8 characters will populate this tier. These fighters, though some being hard to master, will provide you with a distinct advantage over your competitors, especially in online-ranked matches.
- A-Tier: These fighters are each a very strong choice for ranked matches, but there are a few quirks that might disadvantage them.
- B-Tier: These fighters will put you in a bind if you’re not extremely skilled, but are acceptable for beginners to start playing with.
- C-Tier: Using these fighters is tough, and they’re among the worst in the game. It’s best to avoid them, unless you’re an expert.
Tekken 8 tier list in brief

| A | Lili, Alisa, Feng Wei, Fahkumram, Azucena, Bryan, Heihachi, Jack, Paul, Shaheen, King, Nina |
| B | Anna, Devil Jin, Eddy, Lars, Lidia, Lee, Leo, Raven, Reina, Victor Chevalier, Zafina, Steve |

S-Tier
| Tier | Fighters |
|---|---|
| S | Dragunov, Armor King, Hwoarang, Jin, Jun, Law, Claudio, Clive, Asuka, Yoshimitsu |

Released in October 2025 as part of the Season 2 pass, Armor King makes a return to the Tekken series in style. He differs from King in several ways, despite both being wrestlers. He has a new stance, called the Bad Jaguar, which is great for pulling off close-range attacks, such as the Armor King Driver, as well as quick heat moves like the Mexican Uppercut. The turned-heel is great for beginners, especially for those who have been using Armor King since his Tekken 1 debut. A great fighter, and as a bonus, can even wear King’s outfit from Tekken 3, purchasable from the Tekken Shop.
Dragunov thrives with relentless pressure and plus-frame attacks that easily overwhelm opponents. Hwoarang’s revamped stance transitions and spammy kick chains turn him into an unpredictable fighter due to the heaps of pressure he exerts. Jin is known as the ultimate all-rounder – the jack of all trades proficient in punishes, safe mids, and frustrating pokes. Conversely, Jun excels in defensive capabilities and has extraordinarily precise counters, bolstered by her passive healing.
Law is useful at overwhelming your opponent with speed and his Dragon Charge mix-ups. Claudio, on the other hand, will control space with long-range pokes and homing moves, some of the most annoying to face in the game, and his Starburst-enhanced strings will lock down his opponents with ease.
Clive Rosfield, who has been borrowed from Final Fantasy XVI, has made an appearance in our S-Tier as the strongest new Tekken character. He delivers explosive and crushing damage, very fast stance mix-ups, and armour that can absorb hits while also poking at your opponent’s health. Asuka remains a staple character in Tekken 8, and her recent buffs allow her to keep applying constant pressure. Yoshimitsu is our final S-Tier fighter and is as effective and annoying to face as ever.
A-Tier
| Tier | Fighters |
|---|---|
| A | Lili, Alisa, Fahkumram, Feng Wei, Azucena, Bryan, Heihachi, Jack, Paul, Shaheen, King, Nina |
Fahkumram, released back in July 2025, is a Muay Thai fighter who first appeared in the series as DLC in Tekken 7. Despite needing some start-up when pulling off some moves, the resulting combos can cause heavy damage to many opponents, as well as some long-range moves that could be useful when fighting against larger opponents like Kuma.
Lili’s strengths come from her fast and snappy movement, hitboxes, and whiff-punishments. The drawback is her relatively low damage potential, which means players must be tactical and quick to profit. Likewise, Alise is fast and versatile, with aggressive space control abilities, but suffers from the same low damage potential as Lili.
Feng Wei, on the other hand, is a defensive machine with evasion and healthy backdash abilities. Azucena will bait and punish in the current Tekken 8 meta, and her counter-hit toolset and mobility will balance out the deficiencies in her mix-up game potential. Bryan’s equipped with some of the most effective whiff-punish potential in the game, though this should be considered in tandem with his difficult execution barriers.
Heihachi will deliver extraordinarily high damage to oppress opponents, and misses out on S-Tier due to this low mix-up variety. Jack has immense range, pokes, and whiff punishment, yet his size and lack of mobility can be liabilities. Paul hits like a truck and has easy damage, but his linearity and punishable moves create gaps at higher levels.
Shaheen is solid and consistent, with strong pokes and movement, but lacks the explosive tools needed to dominate. King blends grabs, strikes, and mix-ups, though his reliance on reads makes him more matchup-dependent. Nina offers intense pressure and a deep move list, but her execution demands and stance reliance keep her just shy of top-tier.
B-Tier
| Tier | Fighters |
|---|---|
| B | Anna, Devil Jin, Eddy, Lars, Lidia, Lee, Leo, Raven, Reina, Victor Chevalier, Zafina, Steve |

Anna delivers explosive mix-ups and lethal okizeme, but her risky lows and linear pressure make her vulnerable to solid defence. Devil Jin is a balanced Mishima with strong fundamentals and versatile tools, yet others slightly outclass him due to his high execution barriers and less rewarding damage. Eddy, a fan favourite since his Tekken 3 debut, can easily mix up his moves, while also being very evasive, causing the opponent to be confused as to what’s coming. However, his combos can be difficult to pull off. Lars is aggressive and mobile, but his linear strings and lack of truly threatening mix-ups keep him predictable.
Lidia has great pokes and pressure, but struggles with range and homing options, making her weaker against defensive or sidestep-heavy opponents. Lee can dominate with sharp counter-hits and stylish combos, but requires flawless execution and suffers from risky frame data. Leo is well-rounded and accessible, but lacks standout pressure or mix-up threats to consistently crack open strong opponents. Raven is tricky and evasive with unique movement, but his complexity and lack of safe pressure moves hold him back. Reina brings Mishima tools and unique stances, but her flow is still underdeveloped, making her a risky pick.
Victor Chevalier boasts style, evasive attacks, and burst damage, yet lacks consistency and clear advantages in neutral. Zafina thrives on evasiveness and unpredictability, but has low damage and requires deep matchup knowledge. Steve, while still a menace up close with his fast punches and weave game, suffers from low combo damage, weak lows, and difficulty breaking defensive shells. These characters can still win, but they demand dedication, creativity, and strong fundamentals to shine.
C-Tier
| Tier | Fighters |
|---|---|
| C | Kuma, Leroy, Panda |
In C-Tier, Kuma, Leroy, and Panda are, unfortunately, three of the worst and most frustrating characters to play as in Tekken 8. Both Kuma and Panda’s sheer size makes them a hassle to control, making them a rare sight in several esports tournaments, like EVO.
Leroy features some weak tracking, which can be a liability when trying to counter several moves and combos by some characters, like Kazuya or Reina. Ultimately, use these as backup options if you’re in a local tournament. Otherwise, avoid.
Conclusion
It’s fair to say that Armor King has instantly become the go-to fighter, especially if you’re playing Tekken 8 for the first time. His powerful close-range attacks make him a fighter difficult to avoid, making him an easy S-Tier entrant. But the other fighters in this tier, such as Hwoarang and Yoshimitsu are great to use in Tekken 8 if you’re a beginner.
With Season 2 close to wrapping up, we may see Bandai Namco release a further balancing patch that could nerf some characters’ attacks. We’ll be sure to update this tier list if the changes make an impact. But with Mairy Zo appearing later this year, Tekken 8 has a fantastic character roster that now appeals to many players at varying skill levels.
