Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia has announced a collaboration with the NRG Esports Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team that will see members of the DC Area Esports Club compete head-to-head with professionals in a pro-am tournament.
The event will be run on the 17th June at Penn Social and is the first real fruit of the previously announced Events DC sponsorship of NRG Esports. The CS:GO team players will compete against local esports enthusiasts who wish to take part and members of the official DC Esports Club. Matches will get underway at 11:00 a.m. and the event is free and open for all members of the public to register and attend.
The release also adds that NRG’s Counter-Strike team will conduct a meet and greet at Washington’s comic con (“Awesome Con”). The meetup will take place between 11-12 on June 18th and there will also be an autograph session from 1-2pm. It comes as Awesome Con’s first move to add an esports presence that the release suggests will grow to include a full esports track at future events.
