The event will be run on the 17th June at Penn Social and is the first real fruit of the previously announced Events DC sponsorship of NRG Esports. The CS:GO team players will compete against local esports enthusiasts who wish to take part and members of the official DC Esports Club. Matches will get underway at 11:00 a.m. and the event is free and open for all members of the public to register and attend.

The release also adds that NRG’s Counter-Strike team will conduct a meet and greet at Washington’s comic con (“Awesome Con”). The meetup will take place between 11-12 on June 18th and there will also be an autograph session from 1-2pm. It comes as Awesome Con’s first move to add an esports presence that the release suggests will grow to include a full esports track at future events.

“Hosting DC’s first-ever CS:GO pro-am tournament reinforces our commitment to build and embrace an esports community in the nation’s capital,” said Max Brown, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Events DC. He continued: “With the evolution of esports into a mainstream spectator sport, Events DC plans to remain in the epicenter of this opportunity for the District and as a catalyst for the city’s future economic and entertainment growth.”

“The ability to bring our players to DC and help support the growing local esports scene is what our partnership with Events DC is all about. We’re thrilled to be working with local members of the community,” revealed Andy Miller, chairman and co-founder of NRG Esports.

“It’s exciting to be on the forefront of an emerging industry and to expand our scope to include esports events.  We’re thrilled to welcome professional esports players like the CS:GO team to our nation’s capital as a bridge to our city’s innovative future,” commented Gregory A. O’Dell, president and chief executive officer of Events DC. He added: “Esports prospective growth is unlimited and through our sponsorship of NRG, our esports initiatives will continue to position DC as a leader that attracts future events and visitors from around the globe.”

“We’re so excited to get to DC for this event. Playing in a pro-am is something I’ve never done and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s always great to meet and engage with fans,” said NRG CS:GO player, Damian “Daps” Steele

Esports Insider says: From DC and fancy yourself as a bit of a Counter-Strike wizard? Head down to the pro-am and flaunt your skills against professionals and show Washington what you’ve got. Great initiative here from both NRG and Events DC.

We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
