Gillette has expanded its foray into esports by becoming the official partner of ESL Meisterschaft, the German championship. The male grooming brand also sponsored this year’s IEM World Championship Katowice, proving it enjoys working alongside ESL.
Gillette ventured into esports last year as a sponsor of the IEM World Championship Katowice, as well as sponsoring League of Legends teams EDward Gaming and Team SoloMid. ESL Meisterschaft is home to German Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and FIFA 18 championships.
Andras Papp, Brand Communications Leader in Europe and IMEA, Gillette discussed the partnership: “As a pioneer in sports marketing, we are always looking to take another step forward. We are pleased to have a strong partner at our side in the form of ESL, who shares a passion for fascinating sports and precision and who organizes the most prestigious league in Germany.”
Bernhard Mogk, SVP Global Sales & Business Development, ESL also sounded pleased in a statement. “The ideal symbiosis: the Gillette brand is not only a perfect match for ESL with its impressive sports tradition, but also with its innovative products! We are pleased to be able to create added value for esports and the esports community in Germany with such a great partner.”
Esports Insider says: It’s great to see Gillette is willing to increase its footprint in esports, and ESL Meisterschaft has found another good partner alongside McDonald’s Germany. Let’s hope the championship is the best a man can get.
